Visual Art Expo 2017

It's been a while since our last event. This time we will be covering Visual Art Expo (VAX) 2017. I had a blast attending the first one back in 2015 but due to unforeseen circumstances failed to go to the one held last year. Held on 22-23 July 2017, in Shah Alam Convention Centre, Selangor, Malaysia, this is the third VAX held so far. Different from your conventional anime cons, VAX focuses more on panels and overseas guest, studios and panelist. The event showcase to the public the best and cutting-edge in visual arts; animation, comics, film, music and video games. Guests are served with delightful information regarding the creative worlds as well as being presented with never seen before reveals and highlights from respective organizations.

Without wasting any time, here are the pictures as well as their respective captions from day 2 showcasing the highlight of the expo.

Special Interest Panels; A space for free-flowing discussions on any topic of interest. Panelist gave a presentation about their passion; from being an Otaku, introduction to Lovecraftian, gathering of Fateverse and much more. This is one of the things that makes VAX unique compared to other convention; it is a great way for a group of people to band together indulging in a specific fandom and geek it all out.

The Stage; where most of the events center on. A bigger special interest panels were also held here, as well as stage panel from various organizations including from local and international studios. International guest speakers include Tadashi Hiramatsu and Noriko Ito from MAPPA, and Kazuya Masumoto from TRIGGER.

Offstage; there were booths set up by these organizations, as well as vendors and doujins booths.

Cosplay; cosplayers on stage are presented by Cure Cosplay Collection, showcasing their exquisite craftmanship.

Closing ceremony; VAX ended with a bang, where anisong artist AiRI graced the stage with her powerful voice, with the audience frantically waving their light sticks singing along with the music. She sings the song for several anime that I rather enjoyed, including Keijo and Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon, as well as (surprisingly) old eroges that I've actually played in the past. It was amazing.

I did manage to get a photograph and picture together!

Overall, VAX is a very, very enjoyable event. It's a shame that I did not make it last year, but this year highlight definitely makes up for it. There will be another event in another month or so, but until then, see you next time!
